The PowerSight 250 Three Phase Power Monitor puts all the power in the palm of your hand!
The PS250 Three Phase Power Monitor is one of the smallest and yet most powerful instruments for measuring and analyzing electric power that exists combinin four instruments in one: a data logger, a demand analyzer, a harmonics analyzer, a disturbance analyzer.
The philosophy of the product is to give you an instrument that answers just about all of your questions about electric power in a truly convenient size at an attractive price. Combined with our PowerSight Manager (PSM) software, the capabilities of this portable instrument are truly impressive. The PK213 is a professional system for the analysis of power consumption up to 1000 amps. It provides professional quality in a simple to use package. The PK213 bundles 3 HA1000 probes with the cost saving PS250 PowerSight.
The PS250 has the new SureStart™ Logging feature which allows you to verify that the connections and settings are correct. PS250 displays what type of power system it thinks it is connected to and then displays what connection errors it sees. Invaluable feature when considering the cost of leaving a logger for a week, just to discover that it was misconnected, was setup wrong, or that the wiring was wrong.
The PowerSight 250 Power Monitor provides complete power monitoring and analysis in a simple basic package. True 3 phase power monitor with 7 input channels. All basic power measurement functions are included: volts, amps, watts, VA, VAR, power factor, etc. All measurements are performed each second, regardless of recording rate , for accurate power analysis and visibility of swell/sag
The PS250 Three Phase Power Monitor displays what type of power system it thinks it is connected to and then displays what connection errors it sees. Invaluable feature when considering the cost of leaving a logger for a week, just to discover that it was misconnected, was setup wrong, or that the wiring was wrong. The PS250 is continually active, taking 100 different measurements each second, so even if you set the recording rate for 15 minutes, none of the seconds during that time are missed. The maximum, minimum, and average over that time give you the accurate picture.

The Bad:
The Bottom Line:
Full Review
- Single and Three phase true power measurements
- Harmonics capture and analysis
- Automated report writing and data viewing
- Viewing actual waveforms
- Wiring and system analysis
- Battery powered, plug-in power and optional line-power means you are never without logging capability
- Four current and three voltage channels: Allows the PS250 to directly measure all phases and neutral in single, two-phase, three-phase, split delta, 2PT/2CT, DC, 45-66 Hz, 360-440 Hz, just about any situation you will ever encounter.
- Measures 140 different parameters: Volts,
amps, watts, power factor, frequency, THD, etc. Minimums, maximums,
averages, and present values. Individual phases and total. The PS250
measures parameters every second, regardless of the recording rate.
Unlike other loggers, It never goes into "sleep" mode. This guarantees
that you will have a true view of all of the data when the job is
done.
- SureStart for getting great results: Uses
artificial intelligence to verify that the wiring, connections, and
setup parameters are correct. Information is available on the front
panel display. This unique program (patent pending) reduces the time
to hook up voltage and current probes and makes sure that all your
measurements are correct.
- SureSense for accurate current: Uses automatic current probe identification to set the input of the PS250 to match each current probe in use. This makes sure that the current probe readings are correct.
- SurePower for reliable logging: The
meter’s operation is backed up by rechargeable batteries and has an
option to power it directly from the voltage being monitored. Current
probes that normally require batteries (flexible AC probes and DC
probes) get their power from the PS250. This guarantees that the PS250
will log power as long as you need it to with no part failing you. The
longest logging capacity in its class.
- Clear display: View voltage, current, true power, apparent power and true power factor summaries without the use of a laptop; Easy to read 2 line LCD screen for installation verification and real time data viewing

Comparison Reports (Before/After, On/Off, Good/Bad, etc.) The Report Generator has a 4 step process for preparing reports to compare data from data logs. The process is quite easy and fast to perform. It results in a concise tabular report comparing the “before” results with the “after” results (including estimated KWH and cost) with optional appended graphs. The before and after columns are followed by a column showing the actual change between them and the percent change between them.
Sections of different logs can be compared or even sections of the same log can be compared. The report is previewed as a document that you can edit on-screen. Once previewed, it is quick and easy to modify any of the settings and run the report again. The ease and power of this reporting mechanism makes it a favorite for presenting results to decision-makers.
Summary Reports (Overall Results) The Report Generator has a 3 step process for preparing reports summarizing data from data logs. The process is quite easy and fast to perform. It results in a concise tabular report presenting the variables of interest, including estimated KWH and cost, with optional appended graphs.
The report is previewed as a document that you can edit on-screen. Once previewed, it is quick and easy to modify any of the settings and run the report again. The ease and power of this reporting mechanism makes it a favorite for presenting baseline data.
Trending Graphs (Data Log Graphs) Our PSM software makes viewing data logs easy. In a 2 step process, any variable of the log can be presented graphically. Dozens of pre-arranged combinations of variables guide you to an uncluttered and relevant presentation comparing variables of interest. Labelswith arrows can be added to highlight areas of interest.
gain control over the timeframe presented and the relative size of the data presentation.By using the zoom and scalingfeatures, you At the top of each graph, each variable is summarized with a single numberfor simplicity. A graph of averages is summarized to the average of the averages. A graph of maximums is summarized to the maximum of the maximums and a graph of minimums is summarized to the minimum of the minimums.
While viewing the data within PSM, moving your cursor over a data point reveals the actual values and time/datestamp at that point.
Custom Graphs (And Raw Data)The data logs from PowerSight can be easilyimported into Microsoft Excel and otherspreadsheet programs in order to make customgraphs or to view raw data. It is a tab delimited text file with column headings, so the data is easily understood.
Harmonics Analysis ReportsPSM offers three types of harmonics analysis reports. When THD is recorded in a data log, the THD of up to seven signals can be presented on the same graph over time and printed out. The averages of each are presented at the top.
When wave sets are received by PSM, they canhave a detailed harmonic analysis done afterone click of a mouse. The resulting harmonic bar chart compares magnitudes of each harmonic to the 50th. You can control the range of harmonics and their scale in order to print out graphical comparisons of before and afterresults of your harmonic abatement activities. At the click of a mouse, the graphical data canbe presented as a table for a concise presentation of magnitude and phase of each harmonic, plus THD and K factor.
Streaming Data (Recording Core Variables Each Second)PSM has a provision for putting an attached PowerSight unit into “summary measurement” mode. In this mode, PowerSight transmits the voltages, currents, watts, and VA of each phase once a second. This data is displayed on the computer screen, scrolling up one line each second. If the data is directed to a file, it is also recorded as a tab delimited text file, suitable for import into another program for extensive dataanalysis of core measurements recorded each second for as long as the PC has room tostore the data.
Automated Process Control Output
PowerSight can be used in process control or alarm applications. When it is first turnedon, if a certain data sequence is sent to it, PowerSight will then send out the streaming data discussed above in a binary representation of floating point numbers. The control or alarm system can interpret the data as it arrives each second.
