Non-contact infrared thermometers allow you to quickly, safely and
accurately measure the temperature of an object. Non-contact infrared
technology provides instantaneous readings without actually making
contact with the object which is an excellent solution when measuring
temperature of objects that are moving, hard to reach or extremely hot.
Built in laser targeting allows the user to easily aim the thermometer
for accurate results.
How to choose the right infrared thermometer?
The field of view of an infrared thermometer is similar to that of a flashlight, the further the object is away from the flashlight, the larger the diameter of the beam. The further you are from the target, the larger the area the infrared thermometer is measuring. This is the Distance to Spot Size Ratio (D:S) which is defined as the ratio between the distance from the object being measured to the size of the object being measured.
Infrared thermometers work by measuring emitted infrared (IR) energy from a target object and translating that value into temperature. Emissivity is the ability of the material surface to emit IR energy. Thermometers with built-in adjustable emissivity ensure accuracy when measuring other material such as metals, glass, and thin film plastics. Most organic, painted or oxidized surfaces have emissivity values close to 0.95. A fixed emissivity of 0.95 covers 90% of all surface applications.
The ST-882 is a portable, easy to use, compact-sized digital infrared non-contact thermometer. Just point, shoot and read.
